Over the years I have tried a variety of different activities to improve my fitness such as, aerial silks, pole dancing and blogilates. Currently, I work out 5-6 days a week doing a mix of cardio, pole dancing and blogilates.
Here are my thoughts on a few of the performing arts I have tried:
[Aerial Skills (2 years)]
Aerial skills is a type of performing arts that looks graceful and elegant. Be warned it may look easy but, trust me it drains your energy. You learn to look graceful while performing difficult tricks and falling with nothing to support you but a piece of silk. Great for arm strength, flexibility and looking graceful.
[Pole Dancing (4 months and current)]
Pole dancing is a form of performing arts that looks sexy, painful and beautiful. Pole dancing can be painful (pole burns and bruises for days), beautiful and sometimes embarrassing. You go from having no confidence in yourself to feeling like you are the sexiest woman alive. Great for strength, flexibility and gaining confidence.
[Blogilates (1 year and current)]
Pop Pilates is mix of pilates, stretching and cardio. Work on different area every day with Casey Ho pushing you through each exercise. You even have a whole community of Popsters out there going through the same pain as you. Great for cardio, targeted areas and getting into routine.
I am in the process of going into more details about the activities above and am also looking for more fitness activities to try.
